CleanWipe has a specific use. Generally speaking, users should be able to use Add/Remove Programs to uninstall SEP. CleanWipe exists for those situations where Add/Remove programs may not solve the users problems. CleanWipe used by an inexperienced technician can result in loss of functionality beyond what is intended which could cause severe customer dissatisfaction. By working with Support we can ensure that the CleanWipe tool is being used appropriately and with full understanding of the situation that can help mitigate potential misapplication.

It's great when the vendors put up something in the How Tos that apply specifically to their product. Spiceworks serves as a great point of reference.

Something important to remember with SEP is that you need to turn off the Tamper Protection feature to remove it at all. Open up the local SEP console and navigate to Change Settings and configure the Client Management settings. Click on the Tamper Protection tab and uncheck the box for 'Protect Symantec security software from being tampered with or shut down.
This information is difficult to find in any of Symantec's documentation, but not performing this step will prevent you from being able to uninstall SEP.

Yes, thanks, it’s a useful tool. And in addition to this, I would like to offer an alternative to this tool - this is our free product Action1. Action1 is capable of uninstalling programs on one or several computers at the same time without the need to install the server part, as it has a cloud architecture.
